I am a BACP Registered and Accredited multicultural integrative counsellor. This means I use different theoretical approaches and I also bear in mind the differences (in cultural background, age, gender, etc) between us and how this may impact on our counselling relationship. The main approaches I use are:
- Psychodynamic, where we look at how the difficulties you are currently going through are influenced by past experiences.
- Person-centred, where we look at your present struggles and how to manage them.
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), where you will learn techniques to tackle issues such as depression, anxiety, stress and addiction.
- Transactional Analysis, where we identify what goes wrong in your communication with others and at the roles you play in your relationships.
- Dreamwork, where we explore your emotions at a more unconscious level.
- Mindfulness, where you will learn acceptance and detachment of current situations in your life
. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), for traumatic events or PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder), OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), generalised anxiety and anger.
- Integrative, where I use a combination of any of the approaches above.
